Bad Guy's Business

Early
on, this "Mussolini" character
on the right was to be the "Corporate
bad guy". After the overall
design changes, he too, was sheduled
to change. He also supposed to get
more angular, just like some other
protagonists, but at first, I settled
just with some angularity of his
suit. However, I beleive his head
was the last one that remained to
be produced, so I kinda squizzed
some angularity into it's othervise
rounded appearance, as seen on this
drawing (above left). I made that
head almost at the very end of the
shooting, so I didn't bother too
much with the concept. It was beacause
it turned out that I manage to use
this "angular" approach
only occasionally throughout the
film, but it was fine enough for
me to get some feel of it. Unfortunately
or not, a sticker to details as
I am, I hate that I didn't get the
proportions quite right, so his
head turned out somewhat bigger
than on this drawing I was so pleased
about. But, otherwise, perhaps it's
a good mistake. Drawing aside, I
managed to animate this character's
double chin, and in the process
find out a way to animate his mouth
in a rather simple way, way simpler
than usual.

in it's design.

The
rest of the share-holders, the supporting
crew of "bad guys" are also
designs made from doodles I made about
the same time as fake Santa's sketches.
It's easy to make supporting characters.
