For
this car my initial goal was to use
prop car from "Soldat", where
it played in two roles - as an Army
lymousine, and as Police patrol car.
Unused colors were reds and yellows,
or some pastel tones, and I opted for
dark red for it. But, in the animatic,
there should be another car, similar
in size, but with functioning doors.
I focused my attention to the new car,
and devised a new approach in construction
for this one. I made the car from "Soldat"
from styrofoam, but it required a lot
of work... I'd know better, nowadays.
But, back then, I wanted to avoid sanding
and grinding, and well, styrofoam dust
alltogether. Moreover, I thought back
then, It'd be easier to make functional
doors from thin plastic pieces. Here's
how: |

New
method of construction, that is essentially
combining ready-made plastic parts,
proved much more difficult than I've
anticipated. Plastic parts of that size
are hard to cut manually, yet only some
of them could have been cut with power
tools. At the end, it could've been
simpler, for I've realised that I don't
need functional doors, after all. I'm
pleased with the final assembly, though
it was kinda hard to do. Then comes
painting. I decided for the "khaki"
color, to match smaller scale similar
car, original toy from that era, that
should have played together in one shot. |

This
car wasn't neccesary at all. But I
had all the parts layed out in front
of me, it just called for it. And
it was a simple task, by that point
I've learned how to simplify the process.
This is how I imagined for the "khaki"
car to be easy to make.
